America’s Boating Club – Captree is offering a boater safety courses in early 2023. Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a Safe Boating Certificate which is required for all boaters born on or after January 1, 1988, and all boaters, regardless of age, on January 1, 2025, as per NY State’s Brianna’s Law. It is also required for all PWC (Jet Ski) operators right now, regardless of age.
The America’s Boating Course (ABC Course) is the most comprehensive, single source boating course available that provides the skills needed to enjoy your time on the water and boat safely with confidence. Taking this boating course will also reduce your risk of accidents and injuries and will save you money on boat insurance.
What You Will Learn:
- Information about NY State Boating Laws, regulations, boat registration, and licensing
- Required boating safety equipment
- Dos and Don’ts of boating safety
- Practical knowledge of navigation and “rules of the road”.
- How to handle medical emergencies onboard and mechanical problems on the water
- The basics of towing and trailering
The ABC Course consists of four, virtual, evening classes, each two hours long, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and a fifth evening for the final exam which is given online. They will be held on the ZOOM platform. You will need a computer with a camera to take these classes.
Tuition and course material is $60 which is fully refunded upon passing the final exam for all members of BBC complements of the Captree Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Class dates for the class are May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30th from 7pm- 9pm via Zoom.
